Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Greystone Programs utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as an evidence-based and scientific approach to teaching essential skills for increased independence in home and community settings. ABA forms the foundation for teaching and supporting individuals to enhance their communication, socialization, daily living, and vocational skills.

Key Components of ABA Implementation

Individualized Support

  • ABA support is tailored to each person's unique needs.

  • Conducted through formal assessments to understand

individual strengths and challenges.

Teaching Strategies

  • Utilizes various teaching strategies, including task analysis, visual supports, shaping, chaining, and naturalistic teaching.

  • Strategies are selected based on the individual's learning style and preferences.

Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

  • Individuals requiring specialized behavioral support undergo a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA).

  • Identifies possible reasons behind challenging behaviors to develop targeted interventions.

Behavior Support Plan (BSP)

  • An individualized Behavior Support Plan (BSP) is created based on the findings of the FBA.

  • It aims to decrease challenging behaviors that impact a  person's quality of life and well-being.

Skill Replacement

  • Focuses on teaching functional and appropriate skills to replace challenging behaviors.

  • Supports individuals in becoming more independent in both home and community environments.

Progress Tracking

  • Daily data tracking is implemented to monitor an individual's progress.

  • The individual and their interdisciplinary team input contribute to assessing and adjusting the support plan.
