Children's Waiver Services

Children's Waiver Services is a Medicaid waiver program for children and youth up to age 21. This is a family-driven, youth-guided service to include strengths, preferences, needs, and the desired outcome or goals of the child/youth and family. Children's Waiver offers many services to maintain children/youth in their homes and communities in the least restrictive settings.  

 

Services are provided in Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester counties.

Club COOL

Club COOL

Club COOL (Community Outreach & Opportunities for Learning) is a site-based after-school respite program for kids ages 6-21 at the Annette Heslin Community Center in the Village of Wappingers Falls. Club COOL encompasses many focus areas, including self-care, safety, social skills, and communication development. The program runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and follows a corporate calendar. Extended hours are provided in the summer and for school breaks.

To participate in this program, the person must be eligible to receive services through OPWDD.

Community Habilitation

Community Habilitation

Community Habilitation is an OPWDD waiver program. This program allows the person receiving the service to acquire or improve skills needed to achieve their life goals. Each identified goal is person-centered and tailored to the needs and wants of the person. Each person is provided with support, training, and access to community resources to maximize their full potential. Our programs are highly individualized and structured with unique mentoring to enhance successful community participation. Services are provided by highly trained mentors who work side-by-side with individuals on a one-to-one basis with frequent, intensive training and learning opportunities.

This program is available in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, and Ulster Counties.

In-Home Behavior Therapy

In-Home Behavior Therapy

Greystone helps families improve the quality of their lives by providing direct services, support, and education in their homes. Our highly trained and skilled Clinicians work with the family to provide training, support, information, and behavior modification services to the family members and caregivers who have a child, adolescent, or adult with an Intellectual Disability to reduce the challenging behaviors from occurring.   

 

Service Eligibility: 

· Must reside at home with a family member 

· Eligibility to receive services through OPWDD 

These services are available in Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster Counties.

SURPASS Social Skills Group

SURPASS

SURPASS is a social skill training program for people with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. SURPASS groups are available in Dutchess County at the Wappingers Falls-based Annette Heslin Community Center. Facilitated by experienced professionals, the program fosters social skills that will last a lifetime. SURPASS uses small, structured groups to teach conversation skills, coping with bullying, winning orlosing, expressing feelings, voicing opinions, dealing with stress, etc. In addition, group members enjoy participating in various community activities together.
